Is there a problem with the starter or starter relays?
My 2007 Grand Cherokee Laredo 3.7 V6 starts fine when engine is cold, but after it warms up ,the engine will start, but starter won't disengage from the flywheel. Let it sit for 30-40 minutes to cool down, and it will start again.
Has the starter been shimed at all to fit?
Unknown, factory installed starter
Sounds like a bad starter solenoid or a binding bendix, either way replace the starter.
at this point i would put in a new starter.at least...if the fly?flex plate isnt chewed up bu now.. set the clearance drive gear extended so a paper clip just will slid between the ring and drive gear. all answers above are good also..after it sits and cools off the clearance increases.
