Overheating

Asked by GuruHJ4QS Aug 13, 2019 at 02:02 PM about the 2005 Buick Rendezvous CXL AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2005 buick rendezvous was over heating,
and was talked into putting in stop leak. Still
overheated. Then found out the water pump
was badly leaking so that was replaced. Still
overheating.
Changed the radiator hoses, same thing.
Changed the thermostat twice, still
overheating.
Did a flush and fill, with proper 50/50 mix,
absolutely NO leaking but still it's
overheating.
The oil looks just fine ... I don't really have to
add coolant unless I overheat to the point
where my Hot Coolant light comes on and I
blow fluid out the overflow reservoir .
Any ideas on what I can check or do next ??

check to see if you get moisture on the oil fill cap after running a few minutes. While the car is turned over with a cold engine and full of antifreeze check if coolant is coming from the tail pipe of any smoke. Sounds like a blown head gasket to me from over heating.

No white smoke from the tail pipe. I will check for moisture both on the oil cap and from the tailpipe. I'm praying it's not the head gasket. Ty for your suggestions.

Also check to make sure the radiator fan is working if electric should turn on prior to getting hot enough to over heat. If mechanical belt driven it could be a clutch fan worn out. If mechanical belt driven with the engine off try to turn the fan blade by hand it should turn with some resistance.
