Looking to purchase a 2001 Sebring Convertible

Asked by Jan 03, 2016 at 10:25 AM about the 2001 Chrysler Sebring Limited Convertible

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm looking to buy a 2001
Sebring Chrysler convertible
and has 95000 miles on it. I
haven't drove it yet but what
should I look for when I do?
Also I noticed that the rotors
were covered with rust is that
normal for a 2001? They're
asking 1800 for it, what
should I pay for it?

Rusty rotors mean it's been sitting for awhile. Good eye! Look for leaks. Convertibles tend to leak into the passenger's compartment when they get older. Check the carpets for dampness. Check the well in the back where the top folds into for water. If it's warm enough lower the top completely and raise it noticing how well it works. Since it's been sitting and they're only asking $1800 for it pay close attention to how it behaves on the test drive. Listen for strange noises, be aware of strange smells, and any strange vibrations, pulling, etc. Check all the fluids. Look in the trunk. A clean trunk is usually a sign that the car's been reasonably well taken care of. HTH. -Jim
