My 2001 dodge durango makes loud grinding noise in reverse and then stopd driving. Also when i press on the parking brake pedal there is no resistance and goes all the way to the ground. Why?

The parking brake pedal will go to the floor when the cable breaks. --- The grinding noise followed by no movement seems to be the larger problem. It could be a blown transmission.
