Alternator / battery
Change the alternator fuse on my 2000
Dodge Durango now I have no power no
where I put the jumper cables on as soon as
they go on it cuts the other vehicle off
Either you are putting the cable on the wrong battery terminals, or your battery has a dead short in it.
phooey...seems like someone reverse jumped and blew the diode pack, on the alternator~ seems like perhaps you should have called AAA, cause it is very easy to get the polarity switched...so check the alternator...perhaps get a free one because it's so new~...what can I say....a painting to soften the blow here~
I hope you are not using a running vehicle to jump your truck, if so you can damage the charging system of the running vehicle, newer charging systems are not designed to to carry a load like that. That being said, disconnect the alternator electrically, then try to jump start it then, if it starts and runs then you have a short in the alternator.
