why does car not start up sometimes

That is normally a sign of low or no voltage, have you checked the battery and cables, corroded battery cables are the leading cause for no crank conditions, the terminals and battery posts Ned to be shiny clean, none of the black corrosion. If that check good then a voltage drop tests need to be performed. HTH
