Question type: Maintenance & Repair

What if the belt broke and the timing marks dont line up
anymore

1 Answer

Usually if the timing belt breaks on newer cars the motor is no good but not always the case rotate the crankshaft so all the pistons are halfway up use something long to check them then rotate the camshafts by hand slowly so you don't damage anything have a friend help hold the cams in place once they are lined up while you put the timing belt back on make sure the #1 piston is at top dead center on the intake stroke or it WILL do alto of damage
