2008 malibu i replaced the starter and the car still will not start or even make a sound

i went to gas station car was fine shut it off . came out car acted like the battery was dead
tried to jump it nothing we replaced the starter and the car still will not crank dont do
anything

now when i turn the key on the lights and all work, still wont start but now the odometer is reading error and says 0 miles. im so confused

sounds like the 40 amp maxi fuse in the fuse block check your owners manual and if you have a remote start or bought your car used they may have a bank gps with shut off installed
