Driver side door key lock has shifted back into the door

Asked by JerryMissig Sep 13, 2013 at 11:21 AM about the 2003 Chrysler 300M Special FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The locking mechanism has retreated 1 1/2 inches back into the door panel.  On  occasion, I've been able to use the key and pull the mechanism forward to gain access. Need to bring it forward again and secure it.  Expect I would have to remove the inside door panel to gain access to the locking mechanism?

My 2007 Dodge Nitro did this same thing, it was under warranty at that time so the dealer fixed it. I believed it was a loose screw that holds the lock actuator in place.
