heater not working

Heater not working properly very little heat coming from
the cars heating system.
Im told I need a new heating thermostat but when I google it it always shows
the water thermostat not the heater?

A bad thermostat will usually make it over heat , is the coolant full , are both heater hoses hot in the engine bay , do you hear the vents open / close when you make a selection ? You should do some trouble shooting before buying parts . The fans work right ?
