Do the 2004 model Odyssey's have transmission or engine problems at the higher mileage

Asked by Sep 19, 2013 at 12:08 AM about the 2004 Honda Odyssey EX-L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i am thinking about purchasing a used 2004 EX-L Honda Odyssey with 122,000 miles, I
know the owner, very honest, has had all scheduled service done by dealer, gave honest
statement regarding deficulites...such as radio dial fade/balance knob fell off, dash light
behind clock out, so can not be seen at night, autosliding doors are getting finicky, front
wipers are feeling sluggish, needs new tires....my main question is about transmission,
they have not had a problem, but I heard that early odysseys had transmission
problems....do you think that is a big risk with this model year with this many miles?

does it have the lock up converter for over drive? check the fluid it should be red in color and have kind of a sweet smell to it. If it is brown and smells a little burnt. You need to change the tran fluid an filter
