What are warning signs of water pump failure or broken t-stat

Asked by Mar 12, 2016 at 06:33 PM about the 2003 Chrysler 300M STD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car has evidence of small drips on pavement coming from front center of
engine. Engine runs mildly hot sometimes. Temperature gauge jumps around
when it runs hot, it'll be +3 then jump down to +2, then jump back up to +3.
Had radiator replaced two months ago due to a puncture. What's going on?
It's making me nervous to take it on trips!  Thanks, Brad

Those drips are a good indication of the water pump, also have the thermostat replaced, just a good idea too.
