Do Civics have an engine cut-off?
I live in Canada. Just got back from testing a 2012 Civic that I'm interested
in. On park gear, I floored the gas to see how far the RPM would go, and it
would cut off at 5000. It didn't stick at 5000. It would like lose throttle for a
bit (go back down to around 4500) and kick back again. It felt like I was
gassing it in short bursts when I was just holding it steady. Is this some kind
of feature? Cause I tried two other 2012 Civics in the lot just to check and
they all did the exact same thing.
Why are you reving the engine in park up to 5K rpm? Probably a safety feature to protect the engine from damage.
