Honda Civic 2012 Air Conditioner Problems
I have a 2012 Honda Civic (5 years old) - I bought it brand new from the dealer and have only ever taken it to the dealer. I noticed the AC was blowing hot air so I took it in. They said they couldn't see a leak (but that that was normal....as they wouldn't be able to find a leak until they put some dye in it) - so the refilled the Freon and put that dye in it. It worked GREAT for about 3 weeks, but then was blowing hot air again. I took it back in and they said they DID find the leak...and I needed a whole new condenser (~$600) - so they replaced that for me. Within a week and a half (I swear I didn't drive the car more than 150 miles), it was blowing hot air again. So....I took it BACK in and they said there must've been some issue with the new condenser so they would replace that (again) for free....but also, this time they noticed that the discharge line was corroded...so I paid another $165 for them to replace that. When I asked why they didn't notice that corroded line before, they gave me some convoluted answer. Now, ONE WEEK later, it's blowing hot air again. I'm taking it back in tomorrow, but I'm very concerned that I'm getting totally SCREWED. 1st question....what would cause a condenser in a car < 5 years old to need to be replaced? 2nd question...why wouldn't they have noticed that the discharge line was corroded when they replaced the condenser. I have no idea what the issue is but I'm thinking that since they've replaced the condenser twice now, that that is NOT the issue...and I've paid $800 unnecessarily. Any help would be appreciated. I've tried to google everything I can think of to educate myself on this so as no to get further taken advantage of...
