my bmw 330ci has 57000 miles the brake pad warning light came on. It has been very wet here today. are they possibly wet or should they be replaced? what is typically the mileage for replacement?
CHANGE THEM ITS TIME
Check the pad thickness on the inside pad of the LF wheel and RR wheel. Thats where the pad sensors are. If they are touching the rotor then it is time for a replacement. If they aren't then you may have a bad sensor or some wiring issues.
Replace them, the pad sensor has a wear surface on it that wears away on contact with the disc, once it makes contact it means your pads are definite due a change. The design of the sensor and the connectors ensures that there is virtually no way for it to short out due to moisture other than wading through seawater in your car (and I guess you've not done that).
