I have 1 2004 bmw 330ci convertible which has 27,000 miles on it.
Asked by surferdave59 Oct 07, 2013 at 04:57 PM about the 2004 BMW 3 Series 330Ci Convertible RWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
The warning lamp indicated that the dynamic stability was off and the brake lamp
indicator was lite in yellow. The dealer just called and told me that the control module for
the dynamic stability control needs replacement. $2,100 I'm feeling very uneasy about
this because to me a $50,000 car that has 27,000 and has had all service performed at
BMW dealers could have this major repair. Am I being ribbed off?

It very well might be. I also know a faulty wheel sensor can also cause this. If you are good at working on cars, here is a place that rebuilds them with the directions on how to remove.........http://www.modulemaster.com/en/BMW/3-series_info.php....But if you rather not get under the hood, take your car to an independent mechanic who works on BMW's, might be a lot cheaper.

From the owners manual.....The indicator lamp and the brake warning lamp continuously light up in yellow: The DSC, DTC and DBC have been switched off manually or there is a system malfunction. By any chance did you turn it off? Press the DSC button briefly; the indicator lamp comes on and stays on. DSC is deactivated; DTC is operational.

Hi Mark, from my owners manual it reads exactly as what you sent, except, when the indicator lamp stays lite and the brake warning lamp is yellow my understanding is the DSC,DTC,DBL are off as you indicated. Turning them back on by reactivating the DSC button-hold 3 secs. The result s/be both lamps go out when the engine is running. NO LITE lamps means DSC,DTC,and DBC are on and working. followed the reactivate instructions but both lamps still are lit yello
