Wet floor. Water getting in car!

Asked by Larkin Jan 24, 2016 at 10:29 AM about the 2001 BMW 3 Series 325i Wagon RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The floor behind the passenger seat is
soaking wet. I'm parked in a level driveway.
The seats are not at all wet just the floor.
This happens after it rains. I took it in and
the machanic tested the drains around the
sun roof. They were not clogged. He ran a
pressure air through the lines anyway. This
seemed to help for about a week, but the
problem is back. The floor is soaked again,
the windows inside the car are fogged and
wet with condensation. Please help!!!

Some times to find a leak that could be anywhere, they can smoke the in-side of the car and watch for leaks. This is not actual smoke. It is odorless & causes no stains. I had a car that I couldn't find the leak and this is what I had done. They found and repaired several leaks. This was done at the dealership.

If it has a roof mounted luggage rack you can start there, also body seams can sometimes leak.

You might want to try checking your panoramic moonroof if you have one. Or if you even have one sunroof. I had the same problem with my X3 SUV. And what happened was the back Sunroof was not aligned with the front sunroof. There are videos on YOUTube on how to fix this problem. This is a very common problem for BMW's.

the vapor barrier is damaged, missing, not there, not adhered well on r/r door under door panel. this car is prone to having window regulator faults and the repairing party may not have realized the importance of the vapor barrier. hth, greg at garber's

I am having same issue with my 2007 328xi. YouTube has videos but all their cars are 4 door and all the answers seem to be regarding removing back door panel to drain. But I have. Coupe so none of that helps me! Did anyone find an answer to this??

Never getting a BMW again. Pieces of junk. Overengineer the motor, and do nothing about everything else.
