My car over heats when I turn on the A/C could ths be the thermostat if I remove it will it cause problems or do I have to replace it. Or is it something other than that.

Does it overheat at idle or does it overheat going down the road? If at idle check fan/fans. When up to temp and the A/C on both fans should run. If it overheats going down the highway I would check the thermostat, the coolant level and check for plugged radiator. Also if you've never changed the timing belt and water pump and your over 100,000 miles I would do so. I would not run the car without a thermostat installed. This will cause the car to run poorly because the computer and all the sensors work best when the engine is up to temp.
