is there a known issue with the Vaport management valve

Asked by Jan 08, 2016 at 06:40 PM about the 2012 Ford Focus Titanium Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 Ford Focus, a couple of weeks ago my check engine light come on and the dealer told me it was the Vapor Management valve. He replaced it but a day later (about 200 miles) the check engine light returned. I took it back and they mention again that the Vapor Management Valve was bad, They said it may have been a defective one and again replaced it.
So now a day later (again about 200 miles) the check engine light is back on....
What is going on?

I would say it's in the EVAP system, but it's not that valve they keep replacing. See if you can get an error code from Autozone and post the code back here. Sometimes just a bad gas cap gasket or loose gas cap will cause the CEL to come on.

The new Fords do not have a gas cap...
