2012 Ford Focus won't try to start

Asked by SB_Marauder Nov 18, 2020 at 11:00 AM about the 2012 Ford Focus S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When you turn the key on my friends 2012 Focus,
nothing happens. Dash doesn't light up, no radio,
no heater controls, no fuel pump, nothing at all. It
acts like like the key isn't even there. Battery is
charged, cables are clean and tight. I tested the
starter and it works fine.

I'm having the same issue. No one has responded to this yet? Car was a little low on gas (10 miles until empty) before the recent cold spell we've been experiencing lately. Installed new battery. I tried to start the car after disconnecting battery and cleaning the battery connection with diet coke to help remove corrosion. Dashboard and radio came on. Turned the key and heard a scratching sound coming from under the hood. Scratching sound continued after key was removed then eventually stopped. Dashboard and radio no longer turn on with key.
