Repair a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica?

Asked by Becki Sep 18, 2018 at 09:38 AM about the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica that my daughter drives which has been
extremely reliable.  She hit an embankment and the collision company says
for sure the car needs a new front left tire strut and a new subframe.  They
also said, they can't guarantee there is nothing else that needs to be done
until they replace the tire strut.  It has a new alternator, battery, and two front
tires, along with a new transmission clamp.  I know it's a reliable car so my
question is...do I fix this???????  Please help ASAP!

You're looking at a big repair bill. A small local mechanic might do it cheaper than a big chain store. Repair cost might exceed vehicle's blue book value, whether that means anything to you or not, as sometimes it's worth the cost of repairs to keep a reliable car on the road. However if repair costs are excessive, then dump the car and get another low mileage used vehicle. Selling a damaged car is not easy however, you might look up salvage centers near you or "auto dismantlers" as they may pay more for it than a junk yard or scrap metal dealer.

Because the car was only valued at about $600, i only had minimal insurance on it so insurance will not be covering the accident. Guess I need to find a good place to scrap the car then?

Yeah, dump it. You might get more selling it as a "mechanic's special" on Craigslist than scrap value.
