How do I turn off check engine light

It will turn itself off once the problem condition that is setting it is remedied. Get a scan of the trouble code, most parts stores will do that for free, otherwise you can buy your own OBD scanner. Once you know the trouble code you can go about getting that fixed. Top-end scanners can also clear codes.
