We took it in the dealer and were told to replace everything I will name. Told by the dealer
that will fix the problem. We have replace a/c compressor, codensor filter, expansion
valve, high pressure cycling switch. And still gets warm going down the highway, in park
gets cold like a champ. Can someone help me out
Check the cooling system associated with the vehicle. My daughter's explorer was doing the same thing. Everything with the AC checked out ok. Giving up in frustration I decided to check other things like oil level, trans fluid, antifreeze, etc. Since she believes periodic checking is limited to purchasing gas when the needle is around "E". I noticed the recovery coolant tank was empty. Meaning the radiator was low also. I filled the radiator and coolant bottle and told her I could not find a problem. Two days later she called me and said the ac was working perfectly all the time. All I did was add coolant. Maybe there is a cut-off device which turns off the ac if the engine approaches an overheat condition. Worth the time to check the coolant and see if the thermostat is working properly.
I had the mechanic at work check everything but I'll have it checked again. Thanks for the tip I'll look into it, I'll let you know the outcome.
