Start a new question...thebeast2011. Mr O.J. the clicking only sounds when I turn on the turck and clicks 5 or 6 times. When I turn off all the components i.e. (radio, a/c. Etc.) and turn on the truck the clicking dose not sound. But only when the a/c is turned on. Could this clicking sound be an alert alarm and assiciated with eigher a/c copresor cluch or the high and low presure switches on the a/c system. Would using a scaner identify what is causing the clicking alert/sound
Seems you have narrowed down the clicking noise down to the AC and related components. Then there is a possibility the clicking noise is coming from the AC actuator motor which directs air out of the various vents of the vehicle. If the AC is off, then the actuator does not try to move the vent doors. The actuator gives the clicking noise when two or more cogs on the little plastic gear breaks. As a result as the gear spins, wheat is left of the cog strikes it's matching gear resulting in the clicking noise. The actuator motor is cheap enough, somewhere around 50 bucks. ON some vehicles the dash has to be removed to get to it. Check the net on replacing the actuator for your year and model vehicle.
