slow to come out of 4 wheel drive
It will go into 4 wheel high with no problems but shifting back, it is slow or will
not come out until going into neutral. Sometimes not even then. Mainly
happens when it is cold out.
Usually that is caused from lack of use, it puts just a little tension on componets and that makes them just a little hard to move, that's why putting it neutral works, the loads become minimal then. The owners manual says that you should run your 4X4 at least once a month even if it is just around the block.
I had the same issue and replaced the 4 wheel drive actuator. Works like a champ now. They are vacuum operated and the grease was really gunky and dried up inside when I removed them. Although yours is 4 years newer than mine it is a fairly simple process to pull the actuator and check if it is free moving. There is a great YouTube video that I watched and made the process simple. I replaced the front bearing assemblies while i already had it apart.
