My car has started making loud clicking/ snapping / popping noise from under the passenger side dash.

This new noise has started in the last two days. Noise doesn't affect driving and no alarm lights on the dash. What could this be???

Doesn't have anything to do with turning. I got out of the car while it was running, but parked, and could hear the noise faintly outside and not nearly as loud as in the car. Does the airbag home some kind of motor on it?
