I have a 2011 lincoln mkz the speedometer is off by 10 mph when I'm going 50 it says 60 what is causing this?

This normally doesn't happen unless there has been a major change in wheel or tire sizes and the vehicle speed sensor was not set to read the change That being said a shop will have to determine if it is the sensor itself, the stepper motor or a programming problem.
