How to unlolck the emergency brakes on 1995 Cadillac Deville? I tried pushing on the brake pedal but is still in the lock position. It will not release.

It's supposed to release automatically when you shift out of park or neutral. But there is an emergency release lever under the dash. It's right near the top of the emergency brake pedal. It looks like a small black rod/lever. Push up on it to release the emergency brake. Hope that helps! Jim

Yep. just remember to have it in park and keep well away from the pedal cause when it releases it can deliver a really good blow.

They brake is released by a vacuum diaphragm that get vacuum from a vacuum switch on the column that is activated by the shifter.
