Should I get my transmission flushed on my 2011 Hyundai Accent?

Asked by Jun 07, 2017 at 11:16 PM about the 2011 Hyundai Accent GL Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently went to a mechanic to get an oil change and was told I should get
my transmission flushed. My car has about 76,000 miles on it and doesn't
accelerate very well (I was told this was a side effect of needing a flush).
Should I get my transmission flushed?

Don't do it! Flushes flush your money and may damage your transmission.

The mechanic showed me the fluid and said it was supposed to be a pinkish color and it was completely black. Should I be concerned about this?

Yes, black fluid is burnt. At this point you are lucky it works at all. I would start saving up for a new transmission.

Black at 76k miles? I do not know about that, Check it yourself. Someone may have put the wrong fluid in or a fix in a bottle in it. If it is not slipping already I would pull trans oil pan & change filter and the fluid in the pan with some new fluid and add lubegard ATF. The one made for your fluid type.

No flush. Just change filter & fluid in pan only.
