my 2007 f150 slips before engaging to start

Asked by Jan 14, 2016 at 10:53 AM about the 2007 Ford F-150 FX2 SuperCrew

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

sometimes my f 150 slips before stating to move. I have no problem at stop
signs. It only slips when I shift from park to drive. The fluid level is good and
looks red with no smell of being burnt. It has 74000 miles.

Typically a low fluid level will give you those symptoms, especially when cold. If it slips all the time, you might be looking at something more serious. Have it diagnosed by a trans expert.

Transmission clutches slipping need to rebuild/replace

Definitely sounds like a low fluid condition. Try starting the vehicle and let it idle for a five or ten seconds. Place in drive or reverse with foot on brake, and wait to see if you feel an extended period of time before the selected gear engages. Have the transmission checked and serviced (fluid change) by a qualified source.

Thanks. i added some fluid and it fixed the slip. Planning to have the tranny serviced next week.
