2007 F150 SUPERCREW 4X4 TRANSMISION GRINDING
My F150 makes a grinding noise between 10mph and 40mph. At first I thought it was my front brake caliper grabbing the rotor. That was not the case. I took it to a local mechanic and he thought it had something to do with the master air flow. He inspected the air flow and cleaned debris from it. That was not it either. He thinks it is in the transmission now. Told me to take it to a Ford dealership but that scares me because he doesn't think it is major transmission problem and I have not had good luck with dealerships.
If lyou believe you can do it safely, place the rear wheels on jack stands and chock the front wheels. Place in gear and accelerate a little, using due caution, to determine where the noise is coming from. The dealership is going to put it on a lift and do the same thing to begin with.
