Water pump not turning fast enough overheating

thermostat and still over heating no

Water pump runs off the serpentine belt, so probably spinning correctly. I see you have a Deville, the north start engines once they get around 100K or more develop head gasket issues/overheating issues. A common issue. Your looking at tearing into the engine. I would perform a cylinder pressure and or leak down test to verify.

Exactly!! My first guess is the head gasket. Northstar engines all blow head gaskets. You can buy a chemical and put it in your cooling system to see if exhaust gases are leaking into the cooling system. If that's the case, in my opinion, the car's not worth fixing. You're looking at upwards of $3500! For starters the engine and transmission both have to come out of the car from the bottom of the vehicle. HTH. -Jim
