wrench light is something wrong with your throttle. That light comes on to tell you that its going to limit the RPMs and fuel going into the motor, so you dont have a run away condition. Check your mass air flow sensor and your throttle. You're not going to be able to go into 4x4 mode until you clear that error.

    4x4 works without a load hooked to it, hooked a trailer load of wood to it 4x4 quit working, dug a hole trying to pull it out. Unhooked the trailer 4x4 worked and pulled out of the hole
