How would my car think it's in drive when really it's n park?

I replaced neutral safety switch and
still reads in drive??????

Take a look at the range switch...

Right GM seem to be have some problems with these switches, I have had a few pickups come through with basically the same problem, boy it sure makes them run and shift wierd.
