Check for codes first. You might have an issue that keeps the light from illuminating.

I did get a code i can't remember what my mechanic said but he said it could be new wires and plugs or a fuse or or the light itself. Or itcould be the computer system itself. I really hope not. But thank you for your reply. I appreciate it!

Plugs and wires wouldn't keep the light from coming on. A fuse, the "E" light bulb or computer issues themselves are easy to check once the code reader is attached, maybe you should try a different mechanic or different GM garage.

I have a 2002 escalade that when I am driving all gauges on dashboard will drop for a few seconds then return to normal.I can be going say 50 and the needle goes to 0 then back up.my abs and battery light also blink.any idea???

on my 2002 Escalade ext the problem was the wiring harness that plugs into the instrument cluster was pulling down (wire is a little short and shrinks just enough in cold weather) , this caused the circuit board to crack and dash lights and gauges to go off and on intermittently. I had the circuit board repaired and eliminated the problem , then restructured the angle on the wiring harness to avoid a repeat.
