Gear shifter stuck in P

Asked by Guru98Y6BW May 04, 2022 at 07:27 PM about the 1998 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E 300

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello, I have a question: I have a Mercedes E200 from 1998 and the gear
shifter was stuck in P. I tried to force the gear shifter into D by pulling the gear
shifter strongly towards D. Have I done any damage to the transmission itself?
Thanks in advance

There’s probably a brake light bulb or fuse out. If the brake light is out, the car doesn’t recognize that your foot is on the brake and won’t let you take it out of park.
