Was told that the 4th cylinder is bad

Asked by Jesse Dec 06, 2016 at 12:27 PM about the 2003 Cadillac Seville STS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The video shows that the car shakes and there's a
tapping sound in the middle of the car sounds. Like
it's coming from the exhaust.  I took it too a shop
they said it's a bad cylinder. But they don't do motor
work. The car only has 24 thousand miles on it. So
I know the enginext couldn't possibly be blown it
starts and drive but blue smokes but only when Ito
not in idle

That might be a damaged piston. What exactly did they say? Did they do a compression test?

Only 24k miles? If it was recently rebuilt, they might've messed up when they installed the rings. Do a compression test to see if it's low

An engine can still run when 1 out of 8 cylinders is bad but that noise indicates a serious problem. Get the details of what they found and maybe have someone else look at it.
