Are the 2007-12 Malibu non Bose radios problematic?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have the stock non Bose radio in my 2011 Malibu, the iPod/aux plug in the front of the unit is loose and sound doesn't come out
consistently on the left side. Also the FM radio doesn't always come in well, even from one of the largest stations here in Chicago
(101.9), just frustrating. I'm thinking of replacing this with an aftermarket head unit. Is this is a difficult job I should leave to a pro
installer (I've never changed a head unit before), and is there a unit that works well with the Malibu?

Since your Malibu is only 2 years old it should be covered by new car warranty. I'd suggest taking it back to your local Chevy dealer. HTH. -Jim
