Replace battery in BMW and started having electrical problems immediatly

i have a 2008 BMW 538i. replace the battery and some of the elctrical system dont work
such as car alarm front door lock and unlock and power mirrors. Is it true that i have to let
the car go to sleep for a couple of hours to reset itself? Help

When you replace a battery in the E90 BMW's you need to have your car re-programmed, so the cars charging system is set up with the new parameters to the new battery. Your local dealer or BMW independent shop can do it for you. Expect it to cost around $50.
