Remove the brace that holds the battery in place. Disconnect the positive cable, then the negative cable and carefully remove the battery. Then place the new battery in and connect the negative cable and then the positive. Once the cables are connected, replace the brace to fasten the battery to the car and you are all set.

First install the BMW's equivalent to the preset saver tool in the OBD socket, then go ahead and replace the battery, but don't take too long, depending on the tools power source you may only have limited time before it runs out of power and if that happens then you will wind up at the dealer getting the system reflashed.

Hello tennisshoes, What is BMW's equivalent to the preset saver tool? Where might I get one and what specifically would I ask for? Thanks, Antara_1565

As I don't work on BMW's I don't know what it would look like, but here is what I use, but you need a live power port or lighter to make it work.
