What/how to reset when battery is changed

Asked by May 17, 2016 at 08:04 PM about the 2006 BMW 5 Series 525i Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It will crank but not turn over. My husband used a little bit of starting fluid & he
now believes its the fuel pump. You can hear the pump working so is he going
in the right direction?

If he changed the battery, it needs to be programmed to the car so it can be charged properly. An independent BMW garage and or dealership will be able to do this with a programmer. If the no start just happened after changing the battery, I would say this is your issue and the system needs to be reset. in the meantime you can try disconnecting the IBS (intelligent battery sensor) which is located next to the battery and try to start it.
