where is the crank case vent valve on a 1998 528i bmw?

Yes under your intake manifold there is a something called a cyclone seperator with a hose that runs to the valve cover. And and a hose runs from the seperator to the dipstick tube for oil drain back. What kind of issues are you having that you think you need to replace it?

wont pass emmissions, code is po173, cleaned the air flow sensor, im also going to change fuel filter, thank you mark for the help

If you are planning an tackling the "oil seperator", as it is commonly referred to, plan on purchasing all connecting vent tubes as they become brittle and snap when removing them. Also, make sure you line up your snap rings when reassembling. I accidently put one "on" backwards and developed a whistle . Doing the job twice made me realize that a stiff drink would have helped my annoyance, however I can d the job in 20 minutes now!

crankcase vent valve or oil seperator, i orderd it on line but did not order the connecting vent tubes, i'll just go to auto zone to match the tubes, i just changed my fuel filter last night. waiting for my 4 o2 sensors, once i'm done changing these parts, pray it passes emmisions

If you coils are original as well, keep them in mind for the next round of upgrades. They can be a nasty little problem.

yes i changed to hi performance coils from bavarian autosport , it past the emmissions and drives like new, its a premium package 1998 528i bmw with the 6 cd changer in the trunk , screen says cd error, igo to the trunk and the cartridge wont egect, i tried pulling it out with a hook but to no avail, how do i fix this ?

Glad to hear that the coils were the solution. As for the CD changer, please repost it as a new thread. You may get more timely and updated responses.

When I crank my car up white smoke comes out put then it stops why is my 1998 528i doing that
