What kind of refrigerant do i need to fix my AC unit
I live in CA and I am concerned that I have R12 refrigerant system in my car. I need to
recharge the AC system and there are all sorts of regulations out here. How can I tell
what I need?
For one thing it is highly illegal to release any refrigerant in to the air, it must be captured and disposed of properly. 1994 was just about when R12 Freon was being phased out in favor of R134 or R134a. If you have R12 your A/C system can be converted. The bottom line .... to answer your question...you need a professional. Please don't release it.
Beginning with the 1997 model year R12 was illegal. But many manufacturers switched as early as 1994. You may find websites that say R12 is not even being manufactured anymore...but is is.... for other uses..... but can not be bought at the Parts house
Your best bet is taking it to a bmw dealership for services
