Used BMW 330xi
The 2005 BMW 330xi i wanna buy has
161200 miles on it... is this alot? It's in great
shape, but I'm wondering how many miles
can I expect from the engine?
The mileage is a little high. But not excessive. Figure on 10,000 to 15,000 miles per year for each year of the age of the vehicle. This one is 11 years old so it's on the high side of average. Absolutely run a vehicle history report. I recommend Carfax because most reputable service facilities report to them now days. If you see multiple owners, accidents, infrequent service or service by some cheepo beepo places, I'd keep shopping. BMWs are good cars but, like anything else, they need to be taken care of. They also need to be taken care of by a reputable service facility that specializes in imports. Your run of the mill gas station type garage won't know how to fix or maintain it! My Nephew found that out the hard way with his '98 528i. HTH. -Jim
If the car has been kept up with, there is no need to worry about mileage. This is one of the last years of the E46, and that was one of the last reliable 3 series. As long as you take care of it and maintain it properly, you have nothing to worry about. This car will get you another 100,000 miles no problem.
