2005 Cadillac CTS. Starter won't stop turning.
Starter will not stop cranking even with purple wire cut and
relay removed.
First it would not turn over. Jumpered purple wire to
ground, heard some clicking a few times before it actually
turned. Now it won't stop until I disconnect the battery.
Starts again as soon as i reconnect the battery.
Ignition on - not start. Starter relay not energized. Relay contacts open, no hot. Purple wire TEMPORARILY grounded by jumper - to solenoid coil - through coil to ground. Equal potential on both sides of motor/solenoid coil, no power, no current flow. I do not understand how shorting purple wire to ground does anything when key is not in "Run" and not "Start." However, when I did this, briefly, could hear a clicking from starter, but it would not turn, then one more "touch jumper to purple wire and ground" and starter spun and engine started. Turn key to "off" and removed it. Engine stopped, starter continued to turn engine. If key was in start when purple wire shorted to ground, seems like a fuse would blow, as it would cause a direct short from ground through starter relay contact. Don't see how it would have any effect on starter.
