Should you warm up a 2003 BMW 330xi first before driving? I've thought that it should be warmed up enough for the idle to come down from 1000 to about 800 rpms.

Like any other vehicle, once you have adequate oil pressure. I usually start the car , get the radio set, seatbelt on, etc. Then pull away within 30sec to a min. No need to idle too long, wastes fuel.

If the outside temps get extremly low which that doesnt happen here much in Florida, but I usually will let the car warm up and let oil temp and pressure come before putting a load on the engine and trans. I personally dont think a few minutes of idleing the car is going to waste any noticable amount of fuel.
