Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 2002 bmw 325i about 2-3 months
ago and I have never had any problems with it
over heating. A couple days ago I drove about
30 mins from my house parked and turned my
car off. I was standing out side my car when
all the sudden a loud hissing noise came from
under the hood. When I looked to see what it
was there was a long crack in the coolant over
flow tank But no lights came on my dash
when I was driving to indicate it was over
heating.. So I bought a new over flow tank
and had a friend replace it and when we
started the car up it’s now not blowing any
heat from heater only cold air and the dash
was indicating the car was getting hot so I
shut the car off and now I don’t know what to
do!! Is my car ruined beyond repair? Please
please help me I’m a girl and I’m not great
with cars

Your car is not ruined. I suspect your friend did not properly bleed the coolant system. That is why you are not getting heat. too much air. BMW has a special procedure. there is a video on youtube that you can view to show you how to do it. I can't post links here, but search using this title. It is a video with a blue funnel. Properly bleeding your BMW E46 3 Series Cooling System per BMW. Good Luck.
