Wow! I was just going to by that same exact car! I hope to see what is wrong with it! Good luck!
If you put it in neutral will the engine rev up?
Checked a couple of forums. Could be a bad CPS. If the Crankshaft position sensor fails, it puts the car into limp mode. You should get it scanned to be sure.
First check or better replace your spark plugs, second check your intake vacuum hoses if there any cracks or holes replace it.There is easy way to check for vacuum leak if you open the hood while car is idling and remove the oil filler cap, if your engine stalls or stumbles immediately, you've got a vaccuum leak somewhere.Second clean your fuel injectors, just pour bottle of fuel system cleaner in your gas tank,i recommend red line complete fuel system cleaner its not cheap, around 12 bucks but trust me its worth it.Third check your fuel filter or better replace it,your ride have 180 k on.And last check your air filter also,or better replace it too,i recommend you K&N replacement filter, they available at Pep Boys or any auto store just check for your car make model and engine.I hope you can fix your ride man.
To go along with the fuel filter, look into the fuel pressure regulator. I believe it's integrated with the fuel filter on your engine.
thank you all for your quick response i will let everyone know what has happened when i do all the repairs again thank you
