is it ok for bmw e46 to light on the check engine light if the thermal oil sensor is faulty?
Exrah, You have to ask yourself this. DO I FEEL LUCKY......... well do you?
cant get what u saying, what du mean?
Your taking a chance of ruining the motor if your not sure if the oil light is faulty.
Mark is right, we have a hard time understanding your question as there is no thermal oil light. If the oil level light is on and yellow, then the sensor might be faulty or it is low on oil. If it is RED, then you have low oil pressure. But that will have nothing to do with the CEL. How is the car running?
the check engine light went on after hitting a pothole,so when i diagnose the car it says thermal oil level sensor faulty
If you hit pot hole, and it came on,more than likely, loose wire at sending unit,or it went bad from the jolt of the pot hole, but anyway, all the above advice is good.
OK, so looking further, there could be a code that says thermal oil light 27C3, so that means to replace the oil level sensor found on the bottom of the oil pan. You have to drain the oil to replace.
