Probably the transmission, have a reputable shop diagnosis for you. Slipping means the trans is worn and probably needs a rebuild. No way for us to really tell unless we are looking at it. Was the fluid changed on a regular basis? I know BMW said the fluid was lifetime and dealers never changed it. What color is your fluid?

I have no idea I bought the car 6 weeks ago and so far problem after problem. The drain and fill plug were stripy out so my guess they have tried to check it before ... So I am guessing a rebuild is going to cost an arm and a leg?
